Birthday Felicitation to Barr. James Ibor: A Defender of the Defenceless and Voice of the Voiceless
On this special day, we join thousands of admirers, colleagues, and well-wishers across the country to celebrate an exceptional advocate and unwavering defender of human rights — Barrister Ibor, Co-Founder, Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, Basic Rights Law Partners — as he marks another year of life, service, and impact.
Barr. Ibor remains a long-standing friend from his university days, who has been a consistent voice for the vulnerable. His resolute commitment to justice, inclusion, and equity has earned him the respect of many within the disability community and beyond. Notably, his pivotal role in coordinating the drafting of the Cross River State Disability Rights Law, in collaboration with Project Alert, OSIWA, and the disability community in Cross River State, continues to resonate as a legacy of advocacy and selfless service.
We cannot forget the collaborative spirit he shared with our late brother and comrade, Hon. Livinus Okpa — former Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Cross River State chapter — whose untimely passing was a painful sacrifice in the struggle for the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities in the state.
On behalf of persons with disabilities in Cross River State, we extend our heartfelt birthday wishes to Barr. Ibor. May your days be long, your doors remain open, and may you continue to enjoy divine grace as you pursue your passion: defending the defenceless and speaking for the voiceless.
Happy Birthday, Barr. Ibor!
